Fines and Penalty Charge Notices

Here’s everything you need to know

As the owner of your vehicle, Honda Contract Hire is informed about any vehicle related fine or notice of intended prosecution. Depending on the situation we will either:

  1. Automatically pass on your personal details to the relevant authorities or
  2. Pay the fine on your behalf.

We will then invoice you for the fine (if appropriate), as well as charging a £15 administration cost (including VAT) for each fine received.

How will I know if I’ve received a Penalty Charge Notice or Intended Prosecution?

We’ll contact you by email to let you know as soon as possible.

If your email address has changed, please email customerservices@hondacontracthire.co.uk with your account number and new contact details.
What kind of Penalty Charge Notice or Intended Prosecution might I receive?
These can be issued in cases such as unpaid or illegal parking, speeding, unpaid tolls or congestion charges, ultra low emission zones and bus lane penalties.
Why have I been charged an administration cost?
We charge a £15 administration cost (including VAT) for each fine received. This covers the time and work involved in processing each fine.
What should I do if I disagree with the fine or Penalty Charge Notice?
If you disagree with a fine and have evidence to support this, you can appeal directly with the issuing authority. This process varies between companies, so check the notification you’ve received for details of the issuing authority and how to appeal.
Will the administration cost be refunded if my appeal is successful?
If your appeal is successful and the fine is cancelled by the issuing authority, we will refund our administration charge. Please email proof of cancellation to fines@hondacontracthire.co.uk to request a refund.
What happens if I don’t pay a fine or Penalty Charge Notice?

If you choose not to pay a fine or penalty charge notice, you may be taken to court and this could lead to a judgement against you costing significantly more than the initial charge. A County Court Judgement (CCJ) could also be issued or the debt passed to bailiffs. If you fail to pay a parking fine and this is escalated back to Honda Contract Hire, we will pay the fine and recharge the cost to you.
